My Grown-Up Christmas List

If the truth be known and if I had been blessed with a beautiful singing voice, I would be a professional singer without a doubt. When I was much, much younger, I used to pretend I was a professional singer and my poor family was subject to me constantly singing as if I had a microphone in my hands, dancing all over the house with stars and lights in my eyes.

If my dreams had come to pass, I would make a new Christmas album every year because I love, love Christmas music. Although I do not dance around the house pretending to have a microphone in my hand, my children and husband are subject to the same wannabe as when I was little. I sing every song, every word. I hate to admit it but my children have actually asked me to stop singing at times because "it hurts my ears mommy". True story. :)

As I mentioned earlier, I have been listening to Christmas music for a while already this year. Music is so powerful and the words to some of the Christmas songs found in this world are no exception. Some beautiful, powerful sermons can be found within simple Christmas songs. I've already discussed "Away In A Manger". I think I'll discuss as many as I have time to this season. Today's pick is one of my favorites. When I sing along with  this one (because that's what I do)  I feel it deeply in my spirit. The items on this Christmas list are a true desire of mine and of so very many, many people in this world.  I look forward to the day this Christmas list is fulfilled - because I believe with all of my heart that one day it will be.

My Grown Up Christmas List

Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee;
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies.
Well, I'm all grown-up now,
And still need help somehow.
I'm not a child,
But my heart still can dream.
As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree.
Well heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul
.
So here's my lifelong wish,
My grown-up christmas list.
Not for myself,
But for a world in need
 No more lives torn apart,
That wars would never start,

And time would heal all hearts.
And everyone would have a friend,
And right would always win,
And love would never end.
This is my grown-up Christmas list.
"But, verily I say unto you that in time ye shall have no king nor ruler, for I will be your king and watch over you. Wherefore, hear my voice and follow me, and you shall be a  free people, and ye shall have no laws but my laws when I come, for I am your lawgiver, and what can stay my hand?" Doctrine and Covenants 38:21-22

Read that again and really think about what Jesus Christ is saying to us. HE will be our King. HE will be in charge when He comes again. No political party will have power. No one will exercise unrighteous dominion. No leader will confuse us or lie to us or hurt us because our Savior Jesus Christ will be our lawgiver. It really is a day to look forward to. It really is a day to hope for and live for.

One of my favorite titles for Jesus Christ was penned by Paul in the book of Hebrews when he wrote that Christ is an "high priest of good things to come." Hebrews 9:11

Good things will come, they WILL come.
